Emerson and Singing Machine are the two best brands for home karaoke machines. There are a ton of brands out there, but no other companies can compete with the quality of these big boys.
As we all know, brand name is not always all that important. In fact, when it comes to items like clothing or food, oftentimes there is not much difference from one brand to the next. This is not the case with karaoke players. Occasionally, a no-name brand creates a respectable player, but those are few and far between. Get Emerson or Singing Machine.
Next, you’ll want to decide whether you want a CD (disk) home karaoke machine, or an mp3 karaoke player. Some players allow both mp3 and CD input, although that is rare. If you find a good quality machine with dual functionality, then it is worthy of your attention.
But, if you have to pick between one or the other, I highly recommend the Mp3 karaoke machines. Of course, this entirely hinges on whether or not you have an mp3 player. If you have joined the 21st century, and do in fact have one loaded with all your favorite tunes, an mp3 karaoke player is the superior option.
Why? Because you cannot load a CD karaoke player with any old CD that you want. Unfortunately, there are discs made specifically for karaoke machines. And they cost money. Quite a bit of money. Bypass this expense entirely with mp3 compatibility.
Last but not least. Do you want your machine to dazzle you. Karaoke player’s are a mixed bag. Some focus specifically on the quality of musical sound. While others have all sorts of entertaining features. For example, some karaoke devices come with disco lights, or alternative lighting designs. Are these sorts of features important to you? If you have kids they may in fact be. Or, maybe you just care about the sound quality. This one is personal preference, so I’ll leave this last one entirely up to you.
